Season 2010 Launches in Style
What more could we have asked for. A packed Commodore, Daryl Braithwaite blaring Horses from the speakers, a boat race between grade and colts and to finish the night a can can through the entire hotel.
Prior to this colossus evening we had endured 32 degree heat and was made even tougher with the skin tight black jerseys. We played Barker in our annual last trail and got what we bargained for. It was a tough days rugby with Colts going down 3 tries to 1 and giving the large colts squad and their coaching team plenty to lament over Easter.
Freemo and Geoff Cramp managed to control a throng on the side line that turned up to play. Guys just kept coming out of the wood work to get involved and players we had thought had disappeared.
Everyone got a run and we over took Barker in the final quarter.
Seconds came out firing with Robbie Crawford going over the line early. Then with sweaty hands and knock on’s we had scrum after scrum which was even more draining.
1st grade assembled in the heat of the afternoon and it was an amazing standard for a trial and both teams played to the death with Knox winning 4 tries to 2 in a good match in the trying conditions.
The Commodore almost ran dry of Carlton Draft with the club card being used to ensure everyone enjoyed the season opener. If anything is to go by from Saturday night, the social front will be huge this year as everyone had a great time.
