Amongst the big changes to the club over the off-season we welcomed Jac Cameron into the fold as our Head Coach – looking after 1st Grade as well as 2nd Grade’s backs. We’ve pinned the new head honcho down for a few questions.
Earliest Rugby memory?
Playing U7’s Wahroonga Tigers with Nick Cottee. We called ourselves the ‘Bash Brothers’ – inspired by The Mighty Ducks.
We also wore silk boxers that would hang out of our rugby shorts.
Favourite Rugby memory?
Probably my Shute Shield debut for Northern Suburbs. It was my first year out of school, I was playing well for the Colts, and was asked to come off the bench for 1st grade. It was a Friday night under lights at North Sydney Oval. We were playing the Rats. A lot of my family came. I was so nervous. I played the last 10 minutes or so and held my own. That gave me a lot of confidence moving forward.
How was your COVID lockdown?
At first it was not particularly welcomed. I had just started my role here at KNOBs (and was loving it) and also was set to start a new coaching role at Abbotsleigh. So I was sad to lose those. However, during the lockdown, my wife and I had our 2nd child – and now in hindsight I’m very thankful to have had the extra time and space to be with my family. So my lockdown was filled with babies !
Why are you excited for the 2020 season?
Mostly because there is a great group of guys at this club. And I’m excited because I believe we can win a lot of games this year. That’s always fun.
